History and distinctive features
The Orthodox Jewish Adass Jisroel congregation acquired this site on Wittlicher Straße in 1873. Its first burial took place in 1880; around 3,000 people were buried here before the congregation was destroyed under Nazi rule. This separate congregational cemetery survives as a protected historic garden.
