Finding a grave
For a grave-location enquiry, contact the responsible cemetery administration at sg-fried@ba-sz.berlin.de. Give the deceased person’s name, the cemetery and any known birth, death or burial dates; ask for the section and plot number. After the resting period or plot rights expire, an administrative search incurs a charge even if it is unsuccessful.

Grave types and allocation
Selected coffin and urn plots and family plots.
Allocation of grave rights
Selected plots can be extended after 20 years and purchased in advance when sufficient plots are available. A selected urn plot can hold up to four urns with unexpired resting periods. Plot boundaries may only be planted as hedges.
Costs and cemetery fees
2026 tariff. Indicative administration charges with / without a funeral ceremony: selected coffin plot €1,029 / 850; selected urn plot €874 / 717. These are not the total cost of a funeral; funeral-director services, memorial approval, stonemasonry and any separate grave care are additional. New charges take effect on 1 January 2027; the tariff in force when the application is received determines the charge.
Funeral dates and ceremonies
Every other Friday. The burial day ends at noon with an urn interment without a ceremony; arrange the particular Friday with the administration.
Funeral hall and chapel
The accessible chapel seats about 45 and has an electronic organ and bells. Toilets are on the grounds. Open-coffin farewells are possible; there is no refrigeration.
Grave care and local services
For a selected plot, clarify individual care arrangements when the plot is allocated. Where communal graves are offered, maintenance of the shared green area is part of that arrangement.

Location profile
History and distinctive features
Old Wannsee Cemetery on Friedenstraße is the burial place of cab driver Gustav Hartmann, known as Iron Gustav, and architect Hans Poelzig. Soldiers and civilians killed in the Battle of Berlin in April 1945 lie in the southwest. The chapel developed from a mortuary built in 1886.
