History and distinctive features

The Jewish cemetery on Heerstraße opened in 1955 for West Berlin’s Jewish community. A 1960 memorial incorporates stones from the destroyed synagogue on Fasanenstraße. Those buried here include entertainer Hans Rosenthal and Jewish community leader Heinz Galinski.
