A lime-tree avenue leads from the forecourt on Germanenstraße to the main entrance of the memorial grove.

Notable graves and memorials
The site contains graves of more than 13,000 members of the Red Army. One hundred tablets on the enclosing wall record names, ranks and birth years of 2,647 of the dead; most of those buried remain unnamed.
