Resting period

Under the church cemetery law, the resting period is at least 20 years; local cemetery rules may specify a longer period. Ask the administration for the applicable period and the term of the grave-use right.

Costs and cemetery fees

Example charges: coffin burial €753; burial of an urn in the ground €171. Grave-use rights are charged separately. A chapel ceremony of up to 30 minutes costs €146, plus €48 for each further started ten-minute period. A memorial and agreed care may add to the total. Ask the administration for the complete calculation.

St. Marien and St. Nikolai Cemetery I was established in 1802. After closing to burials in 1970, the cemetery reopened for interments in 1995.
