Finding a grave

For a grave-location enquiry, contact the responsible cemetery administration at kerstin.habermann@ba-tk.berlin.de. Give the deceased person’s name, the cemetery and any known birth, death or burial dates; ask for the section and plot number. After the resting period or plot rights expire, an administrative search incurs a charge even if it is unsuccessful.

Cemetery administration and contact

Treptow-Köpenick cemetery administration, Neue Krugallee 4, 12435 Berlin; responsible officer: Ms Habermann.

Office hours

DayService hours
Monday, Tuesday and Friday09:00–12:00
Thursday09:00–12:00 and 13:00–15:00. Arrange in-person appointments by telephone.

Grave types and allocation

Selected and row plots for coffins and urns, plus communal coffin and urn areas.

Allocation of grave rights

Plot rights are normally acquired for 20 years. Selected and family plots may be extended; row and communal plots cannot be extended. Arrange the particular plot type and available space with the responsible administration.

Costs and cemetery fees

Calculated examples under the 2026 tariff for a new plot and one interment without a ceremony: selected coffin plot €857, row coffin plot €780, communal coffin plot €1,803, selected urn plot €669, row urn plot €639, anonymous communal urn plot €704. They include the €52 administration charge, basic cemetery fee and interment; provision and maintenance are also included where required for that plot type. If the cemetery cannot store a coffin, the coffin-interment charge is reduced by €15. A ceremony of up to 30 minutes normally adds €159. Memorials, additional services, cremation and funeral-director costs are excluded. New charges take effect on 1 January 2027; the tariff in force when the application is received determines the charge.

Funeral hall and chapel

The historic funeral hall contains a hydraulic coffin lift.

Grave care and local services

For a selected plot, clarify individual care arrangements when the plot is allocated. Where communal graves are offered, maintenance of the shared green area is part of that arrangement.

Accessibility and facilities

Grounds, paths, funeral hall and waiting room have step-free access. There is no public toilet on the cemetery grounds.

Location profile

History and distinctive features

Altglienicke Municipal Cemetery was originally created for Niederschöneweide, where industrial development had reduced the supply of suitable land. Near the entrance, a memorial with a green glass wall commemorates more than 1,370 victims of Nazism whose ashes were buried here.

Visiting and use
The cemetery is open daily during its seasonal visiting hours. Burials are arranged through Treptow-Köpenick cemetery administration.
