Location profile

History and distinctive features

The surviving grounds of Alter Garnisonfriedhof formed its western officers’ cemetery; the former soldiers’ section to the east was built over. Nineteenth-century cast-iron grave crosses and Karl Friedrich Schinkel’s monument to Carl Friedrich von Holtzendorff remain distinctive features. The last burial took place in 1961.
