Finding a grave

Neukölln cemetery administration handles burial enquiries for its eight cemeteries. Records beyond the 20-year resting period may require a paid archive search. After the resting period or plot rights expire, an administrative search incurs a charge even if it is unsuccessful.

Cemetery administration and contact

Neukölln cemetery administration, Hüfnerweg 39, 12349 Berlin. There are no administrative offices staffed at the individual cemeteries.

Office hours

DayService hours
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday,09:00–12:00.

Grave types and allocation

Selected coffin and urn plots, row urn plots, family graves, tree burials with or without markers, communal urn graves and an urn burial community with trust-funded care.

Allocation of grave rights

Plot rights are normally acquired for 20 years. Selected and family plots may be extended; row and communal plots cannot be extended. Arrange the particular plot type and available space with the responsible administration.

Costs and cemetery fees

Calculated examples under the 2026 tariff for a new plot and one interment without a ceremony: selected coffin plot €857, selected urn plot €669, row urn plot €639, anonymous communal urn plot €704. They include the €52 administration charge, basic cemetery fee and interment; provision and maintenance are also included where required for that plot type. If the cemetery cannot store a coffin, the coffin-interment charge is reduced by €15. A ceremony of up to 30 minutes normally adds €159. Special burial and care arrangements have additional costs according to the chosen scheme. Memorials, additional services, cremation and funeral-director costs are excluded. New charges take effect on 1 January 2027; the tariff in force when the application is received determines the charge.

Funeral dates and ceremonies

Burials on Tuesday and Thursday and by arrangement. The funeral director arranges the individual appointment by telephone with the administration.

Funeral hall and chapel

Funeral hall with 50 seats, toilet, waiting room and room for an open-coffin farewell. The women’s toilet is accessible; a wheelchair and harmonium are available.

Grave care and local services

For a selected plot, clarify individual care arrangements when the plot is allocated. Where communal graves are offered, maintenance of the shared green area is part of that arrangement.
