Finding a grave
For a grave-location enquiry, contact the responsible cemetery administration at kerstin.habermann@ba-tk.berlin.de. Give the deceased person’s name, the cemetery and any known birth, death or burial dates; ask for the section and plot number. After the resting period or plot rights expire, an administrative search incurs a charge even if it is unsuccessful.

Grave types and allocation
Selected coffin plots, selected and row urn plots and a communal urn area.
Allocation of grave rights
Plot rights are normally acquired for 20 years. Selected and family plots may be extended; row and communal plots cannot be extended. Arrange the particular plot type and available space with the responsible administration.
Costs and cemetery fees
Calculated examples under the 2026 tariff for a new plot and one interment without a ceremony: selected coffin plot €857, selected urn plot €669, row urn plot €639, anonymous communal urn plot €704. They include the €52 administration charge, basic cemetery fee and interment; provision and maintenance are also included where required for that plot type. If the cemetery cannot store a coffin, the coffin-interment charge is reduced by €15. A ceremony of up to 30 minutes normally adds €159. Memorials, additional services, cremation and funeral-director costs are excluded. New charges take effect on 1 January 2027; the tariff in force when the application is received determines the charge.
Funeral hall and chapel
The current funeral hall was built in 2005 on the site of its predecessor, which was destroyed during the war.
Grave care and local services
For a selected plot, clarify individual care arrangements when the plot is allocated. Where communal graves are offered, maintenance of the shared green area is part of that arrangement.
Accessibility and facilities
Grounds, paths and funeral hall have step-free access; an accessible toilet is available.
Location profile
History and distinctive features
A main avenue of lime trees structures Grünau Forest Cemetery. A memorial built from boulders commemorates the dead of the First World War. The original funeral hall was destroyed in 1945; the gatehouse later served that purpose before a new hall was built in 2005.
