History and distinctive features
Lichtenrade Cemetery extends across both sides of Paplitzer Straße. Avenues of lime, maple and spruce trees structure the older burial sections, while the 1960s extension has a park-like layout. Beside the war graves, memorial plaques commemorate Jewish victims of Nazi persecution and victims of Lichtenrade’s forced labour camps.
